Jewelry Shop is Up and RUNNING... again

I have decided to start up my jewelry shop again.  I have tons of great jewelry ready to go from pre-baby days, so why not??

You can get these babies here.
The other night I realized if baby boy goes to bed before 8 pm, I can still get in a few hours of crafting before I have to head to bed.

Grab this tissue holder here.

I have a TON of stuff to list in the next few months, just in time for Christmas.  I will also be updating my sewing shop with little goodies for the holidays.  Think zippered pouches, tissue holders (like this one), and box pouches.  FUN!

New Items

New Tissue Cases in my shop! These are so cute.  I use them on my nightstand because I don't like how the big boxes of tissues look.  Oh, and they take up nearly ZERO space.  LOVE!

I have some new jewelry up too. I love these dangly earrings.  I have an identical pair, but mine hang from a hoop.  So cute and classy.

Sale is still on until October 30th, so go check it out.  The holidays are only a month and a half away, and if you are shipping gifts, you only have about a month!  WHoa!

Sweet Sunny Day Shops

I have been busy crafting and creating and I wanted to share a few things!  I have also been trying to start filling up my shops, slowly it is all coming along.  I try to list at least one thing a day.

I made this nook case out of soft flannel and layered it with some batting to protect the reader.  I take my kindle with me everywhere, so I thought this would be pretty awesome.  It even has pockets for cash/IDs.  Sweet!

I added a few items to my accessories shop...  More knits to come.  I have knitting fever with winter on the way!

I also added another cute set of coasters to my home shop today!  Pale yellow quilted anime coasters.  These would look banging in a dorm...  Or at your computer desk!

To top the day off, I added a few pairs of earrings to the jewelry shop.  Bracelets and more to come tomorrow.

Remember the SECRET SHOP SALE going on NOW!  25% off at any of my shops from now until Oct. 30th.  Just enter SHHHH at checkout...  I will combine shipping costs too, just convo me after purchase and I will refund the difference!

Sweet Sunny Day Etsy Shops

Good evening everyone!  I have been sewing up a storm and I started 3 new etsy shops today.

The first one is for my jewelry: www.sweetsunnydayjewelry.etsy.com

I haven't listed much yet, but by the end of the week it will be full of new items!  Check out these earrings here.

The second one is for home items: www.sweetsunnydayhome.etsy.com

My first item is this little birdie.  You can use it as a pin cushion, a decoration, a toy, etc.  I love birds so I am making a ton more of these.  If there is a color combo you would like to see, send me a little note!

I also opened a shop for accessories:  www.sweetsunnydaylane.etsy.com

I am always looking for ways to carry tissues in a less sloppy way.  This is a total fix.

I fell in love with this lemon fabric and have been making tons of stuff with it.  Placemats, coasters, tissue holders, etc.  This won't be the last you see of it!  Click here to see this in my shop.

Handmade Bridesmaid Gifts

Don't know what to give your bridesmaids but want something personal, useful, and unique?  Look no further! I made these super cute pouches out of bright material from Kaimuki Dry Goods and then filled them with an "emergency wedding day kit."  They were well received and I enjoyed making them.  :)

Stuffed to the max!

I embellished each one with pockets, ribbon, and rick rack so they would all be a little different.

Sunscreen, breath mints, deodorant, hairbands, wet wipes, and lip gloss were among other things.

The inside of each bag was a pink satiny material that I loved!  I am going to start making these for sale in the next few months, so keep your eyes out on my new shop kateandruby!  They would make great gifts for  any occasion, but I really like that they are all alike, but different for bridal party gifts.

Today was my Sunday and I totally enjoyed it.  I went surfing at Bowls, got my flu shot, and made some beautiful new earrings for my shop.  I am trying to let my creativity go wild with some of my latest additions to my collection.  I went to the Soft Flex Bead Show and found some amazing beads!

Cool coin pearls that I found at Bead-It's booth.

Stunning amethyst and tanzanite.  Wow, look at the sparkle!

Vintage buttons, from my own collection.  They just happened to become super cool studs!

Shell Jewelry and More!

I had a big day of creating and cleaning today.  :)  It turned out to be a lot of fun.  I spent a few hours this morning cleaning and organizing - spring cleaning a few months late.  Then I made jewelry for a few hours, and then it was back to cleaning!  I am super happy with my new pieces, and I love all the shell jewelry and hairpins. Here are a few items you can look forward to finding in my etsy shop soon!

I also made a few other necklaces, some earrings and hairpins...  All soon to be added.

I love the hairpins and the baby pendant necklace...  A few of the pieces I have been collecting pendants and beads and today they just "came" to be.  I love a good day of success.

New Website!

I started a little website to house all of my projects: my blog, my etsy, and my store front.  Check it out at http://barefootbeadshawaii.webs.com/.  I have just started adding things and can't wait to get it all up and running!  My favorite part is how easy it is to integrate etsy into your site. I also created a cafe press shop through webs and love it!  I can design almost anything and have it made into a t-shirt, a tote, and even a onesie.  I can't stop designing logos and cute things to go on shirts!

Truly Inspiring Tuesdays-barefootbeadshawaii

I am starting interviews with artists and crafts people this month.  Each month I will feature a new crafter on Tuesday.  To kick it off, I am doing a sample post using myself.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I love to create and work with my hands.  One of the best feelings in the world is holding something you have just created and seeing the uniqueness and beauty that you were solely responsible for.  I also love food and being outdoors.

What was the first thing you can remember making?

I think my first creation may have been a "rose/flower water" in my backyard when I was a little girl.  I would build troll gardens and make myself really dirty flower petal water to drink and smell while I worked.

What are your greatest artistic/creative influences?

I get a lot of ideas from nature and being outside.  The colors of the ocean and the mountains are incredible and always look great together, I try to integrate them into my designs to create effortless color pairings.

Do you have any advice for etsy sellers/crafters?

Take great pictures, post often, and keep at it.  You won't be a top seller day one, and you only get better by practicing.  The most important thing besides your product is pictures!

What is your favorite item to create?

I love making earrings.  They are quick and I love to wear them.  Who doesn't love a new pair of earrings?  The possibilities are endless.

What do you do when you aren't creating?

I am an assistant pastry cook at a luxury hotel and I love hiking, swimming, surfing, pilates, and the beach.

Describe a typical day of crafting/your creative process.

Wake up, eat breakfast, and then park myself on the floor in front of all my supplies.  Then I usually start by pairing beads or fabric together and picturing something I want to make.  Usually I end up planning a few projects and then diving in.  Then I'll take a break for an avocado maki or a smoothie, and then go right back to it.  Sometimes on my days off, I'll craft from morning to night.  It can get a little wild in my tiny apartment.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Chocolate mousse...

What are some of your favorite etsy shops/designers right now?

There are way too many to choose from.  But I love http://www.killtaupe.etsy.com/ , http://www.mauromos.etsy.com/ , http://www.naturalresources.etsy.com/, and http://www.corrabelle.etsy.com/ .  I have new favorites everyday, but these are some great shops with awesome prices, unique items, and things that keep me checking back in their shops.

Favorite place to grab a bite?

Right now, Whole Foods Pizza, Aloha Sushi Avocado Maki, and Pyramids all vegetarian plate.  So good!

Describe your studio/work station.

Non-existent.  My floor, tv table, or my lap.  It gets pretty crowded, but you gotta make do!

Where can we find your work?

New Items in the Shop

I have been trying to put up some new items in the shop because it feels like it has been a little while!  So here we go.  New earrings and paper tags.

I just got some new paper that is oh so cute and would make great gift tags, packaging decoration, or scrapbook embellishments!

I love this flower power paper!

New Items for the Shop

I had the day off today and have been beading for the past few hours.  I made some really unique and sassy pieces that I can't wait to put in my shop.  The bead show was a great hit yesterday and I am super happy with the additions to my stash.  I made a few pairs of earrings, a really hip bracelet, and a couple of pendant necklaces.  The pendant necklaces are with charms that I have engraved and stamped, then dapped so they are curved.  I love the results of a day of beading...

Soft Flex Bead Show Success!

I got off work today at 4 and zipped over to the Soft Flex Bead show in Ward Warehouse.  It was a total success!  I got there with a half an hour before they closed and I did some really great shopping.  I got a few strands of stones and a lot of metal.  Oh and some seriously cool tools!  Keep your eyes out for really crazy new projects soon with metal...

Here is one of my all time favorite booths, I spent the most money and time here today.  (And it was totally worth it!)  Go to her website for all kinds of cool stuff.  I got rodium chain, a ton of metal blanks, a lotus stamp, and an engraving tool.  Oh and a circle punch for metal.  SO much fun... Good thing I have the day off tomorrow.

Hessonite Garnet, Citrine, and Amethyst stones from a few of the booths there.  Great prices and I love the shapes and facets.  I can't wait to make sassy earrings out of the Hessonite Garnet on the top...  I will post them when I finish them.  Probably tomorrow!

All in all in what another great show, and I probably didn't need to go any earlier or spend any more time, I got exactly what I wanted.  The show will be back in September so don't worry if you didn't get to go this time.  I will update you on the next one.  :)
